Indian Diaspora Europe was founded in 2020 with a simple observation: the Indian community in Europe is one of the fastest-growing diasporas in the world, yet its cultural and intellectual life was scattered across a hundred WhatsApp groups and a dozen city associations. There was no common stage.
IDE is that stage. From Berlin, we convene the conversations, performances, and gatherings that a community of two million deserves — open to every region, language, faith, and generation that makes up Indian Europe.
What we believe
Indians in Europe are not guests or statistics. They are engineers, nurses, founders, researchers, artists — the living connection between two of the world's great civilisational spaces. Strengthening the diaspora strengthens both.
Trade agreements follow decades behind a raga performed in Paris or a festival celebrated in Frankfurt. We invest in culture because it is the fastest-moving part of any relationship between peoples.
Some conversations shouldn't happen in comment sections. Our dialogues put authors, economists, and public voices in front of a live European audience, with real questions and real time.

Founded. First dialogues on Indian public policy reach audiences across Europe within weeks.
2021
Ārabhi launches, the first series dedicated to Indian classical arts in Europe. The A.R. Rahman tribute concert draws performers from across the continent by open call. Website unveiled by Dr. Vinay Sahasrabuddhe.
Today
Headquartered in Berlin, programming across three streams, building the permanent home for Indian Europe.

Berlin is Europe's capital of ideas and one of its youngest Indian communities — the right home for a platform that belongs to the whole continent. IDE operates from Berlin and programmes across Europe, online and in person.
